On Friday we joined Dan and Sarah for their wedding day at the beautiful Highcliffe castle in Christchurch on what was a blustery but mostly dry late October day.
We started our day with Sarah any the Balmer lawn hotel where she was staying and once again the staff there were amazing and looked after us very well. Sarah and Dan wanted a “hands off” approach to their wedding day concentrating on the day rather than creating it. This worked very well for us although we did have to step in a few times to rally the troops for photos 😁
Starting with preps we took lots of details and a few makeup and hair shots with the girls. We then left and headed off to Highcliffe to meet with Dan and the boys. Dan is a fellow cyclist so I knew most of the lads at the wedding day but managed to not chat cycling too much. When we arrived at Highcliffe the rain had arrived so we moved inside and waited for our beautiful bride to arrive.
The vintage Rolls Royce pulled into the driveway and Sarah looked sensational ❤️ I took a few shots on the car with the castle and let them get into the warm and dry. The ceremony followed and was just beautiful. Perfect location for a perfect couple and we captured the whole thing.
Afterwards we were lucky the weather had settled so we headed outside for Sarah’s dream shot of everyone with the castle in the background and thanks to some clever editing we definitely achieved that “sunny wedding feel” she was after. We then headed to the west steps to do the family groups before everyone headed off to Balmer Lawn for the reception.
Sue and I took Dan and Sarah off for a few photos with the car and a few near the cliff top although it was super windy there.
Then back to Balmer lawn for the reception which started with drinks inside and some fun with the Jenga and other games. They were then called into dinner and afterwards some fab speeches before heading back out into the bar area for a catch up before the dancing.
The Dj was ready to go and we cut the cake and danced, Starting with the daddy daughter dance and then the traditional first dance, or so we thought ❣️. After a few moments they broke from tradition to dance to the superman song which brought rapturous applause and loads of giggles.
Afterwards Sue and I said our goodbyes and headed off home after a long fun wedding day.
