Family photographs with Hannah and John in our Southampton portrait studio
This weekend we saw Hannah and John for some family photographs in our Southampton portrait studio. We have a beautiful studio space with fully air conditioned shooting areas and changing areas and full refreshments too. We have free parking and lots of space too.
The brief
Todays brief was simple. It was Hannah’s birthday and John wanted her to have some family photographs as a gift. They would include him and their 2 lovely boys ages 1 and 2. Our Southampton portrait studio is perfect for this. The oldest boy was very shy so Sue sat and played games and puzzles for a half hour whilst we all caught up. One of the many advantages of us being a relaxed family photographers is that we do not biggie back our appointments. This means if we have a shy clients we can just chill out and wait. This is uber important with children because we bank on them coming back and we want them to have happy memories. Plus of course we want Mummy and Daddy to have fab photos.
The all important photos
This is one of them moments when “The subject matter is so much more important than the photographer”. If children/people are happy and you have a connection then you get fabulous photos. There are no compromises, no luck. Its all down to time and effort. Sue and I are happy investing in both which is why we produce work like this from a little lad that did not want to come in today.
We started today with shots of the whole family just because its less intimidating. Then I let our little man take a photo and we looked at the results together. Soon enough he wanted to be part of the action. I bribed him with Lego and that worked a treat. Thankfully I get lots of lego swaps so this was a good option.
