Here at Julian Porter Photography we offer Newborn shoots when baby is between 7 and 20 days old. We do of course work outside of these but its more hit and miss. Newborns are generally ready by 7 days and perfect for the next week or so. The older we leave them the less chance of getting them settled properly. But we never say never 🙂
Oliver at 7 days Newborn photos Southampton
We photographed Olivers big sister 3 years ago so were delighted when Mummy called to book again. Naturally they brought Amelia along too. We settled Oliver quite quickly and after a little top up he was ready. We started with a lovely blue outfit, one of our most popular. and after a couple of baskets we tried one with Amelia who was dressed up ready. Unfortunately she was not having any of it 🙂 Tired and hot she was Adamant “I don’t went a photograph” haha ❤. we tried and tried at every basket change, We offered every incentive going. I would have given her my car Lol.
Oliver on the other hand was perfect. 3 great outfits and lots of baskets and then we tried our new setup with him Swaddled. This worked well and we almost got Amelia involved too.
Lastly we brought Mummy, Daddy and Oliver for a photo and the gorgeous Amelia joined in. PHEW……. I saw man opportunity and popped Oliver back into a basket and off we went. Yep we finished with some absolutely amazing photos of Amelia and Oliver and these made my day. Probably this years most rewarding shoot ❤ I hope you enjoyed those chicken nuggets princess X
So despite a rocky start we had an EPIC finish. I know I say it often but we never rush our shoots and especially our Newborn photos Southampton. And it pays off over and over. Sometimes Less is more. Our tagline “We don’t just click, We connect!” is very true.

What we do here at Newborn baby photography
In a perfect world we would get to meet your newborn between 7 and 10 days. But we have had great success with babies much older and some parents are more comfortable leaving home after a couple of weeks. We have a comfortable and more important safe environment for both you and baby and of course any siblings you bring along too. Our studio is state of the art with constant lighting so no flash to bother your baby. We also have refreshments on hand and coffee is quite popular with new parents 😀
