Destination wedding photography in Sardinia

Destination wedding photography Sardinia and Destination wedding Sardinia photography

A few months ago I had a call from Anna about Destination wedding photography Sardinia. We have known Anna for a few years from various family photo shoots. Also from one of our photography workshops so she knew our work well.

Sardinia wedding photography

Anna and Chris decided to get married on a beautiful beach in Sardinia. They were looking for relaxed and beautiful photos. Thankfully thats just what we do 😃. We had a few meetings with Anna and Chris over the past few months. Together we came up with a perfect plan for wedding day photos.

Our Plans

Sue and I travelled to Stansted Airport early Monday morning and then flew to the beautiful island of Sardinia. We picked up our hire car and headed to our hotel and venue, le spiagge di san pietro for the Destination wedding photography Sardinia. Sue and I checked in, freshened up and headed for dinner and to meet the other 30 or so guests.

The whole wedding party had 3 large tables in the conservatory so it was a wonderful atmosphere. After a couple days to settle in and do a few recce’s. We also met with Vittora the wedding planner and walked through our day with Anna and Chris. We also drank and ate very well 😃.

Destination wedding photography Sardinia – The day arrived

The girls

Sue and I had arranged to meet Anna at 1pm for preparations and details. The wedding was 4pm so this gave us plenty of time to relax into the day and not get over heated despite the 28º sunshine. We arrived to a room full of very excited people, Anna and her sister Jen who we have photographed before. Also Chris’s 2 lovely daughters who we have also photographed before. As well as both mums and a couple children too 😃 All this was the perfect recipe for some great wedding prep photos.  A couple of hours going between rooms and we captured some lovely shots.

The boys

We then met with the boys and the dads too for a few relaxed photos finishing off the preps. We photograph things like button holes and maybe the last beer at the bar. Today was super warm so we kept the boys cool in the shade whilst we snapped. We also photographed the boys leaving the hotel for the 5 m minute walk to the beach bar and venue. The boys looked amazing in their lovely trousers and open white shirts. The day was well and truly underway.

The beach walk

So the time had come for the walk to get married. still baking at around 28º we had a slow and steady walk to the beach, after all we wanted to arrive looking our best. A few photos en-route  and mission accomplished. As Anna walked onto the white talcum powder sand beach she looked sensational. The whole wedding party just stood and gazed and she walked down the short few steps to meet Chris.

The next 20 minutes or so were a blur. Dozens of beautiful photos, gentle crashing waves, tears and laughter and the all important “I Do’s” it was a beautiful experience and one I will never forget. Afterwards lots of hugs and kisses and a surprise tap on the shoulder for me from Nathan and Victoria, friends from yet another shoot 😍. More friends of Anna and Chris and yet another connection we have.

Afterwards we all headed to the outside bar for drinks and lots and lots of photos. Although this might sound hot and hard work, most of them were relaxed reportage style as the day unfolded. We photographed all the hugs and kisses, a few great family groups and then lots of families just wanting to make the most of the day and location, and who can blame them.

The kids

We then took the smaller bridesmaids for some fun photos. Walking or rather dancing and running along the waters edge. This was so much fun and we got some great photos. Im pretty sure we could have gotten Anna and Chris to play too apart from she was planning on wearing her dress next week for the UK party.

Portraits on the beach

That could be the title of a film……. So a big part of our wedding photography is our couples portraits. Obviously being on a beach in Sardinia we were spoilt for choice with great views but we are also very aware that its a wedding day and not a portrait shoot. So we allocated our usual 10 to 15 minutes for some portraits.

We took Anna and Chris along the beach for a few photos and took lots of lovely details too. We really could have gone on forever, there was so much to see and do. But as promised we never kept them from their all important wedding guests.

The evening

The evening started with us all being walked into the beach hut for speeches and then a delicious and very delicate meal. We had all been “all inclusive” for a few days so it was a nice break from that for everyone. The speeches were fun and very moving too. Especially Dad’s speech ❤.

Afterwards we chilled for an hour before cutting the cake, OMG what a cake it was too. A home made Tiramisu which was delicious. The biggest slice of wedding cake ever too.  Later came the dancing and we all made the most of dancing with the orange moonlight reflecting off the crashing waves. It was just about perfect in everyday.

Skinny Dipping

Ha ha yes I guess it was always going to happen. Beautiful sun drenched day and a lovely moonlit evening. About 6 or so people ventured in and the bride did request photos haha but of course I wont be posting or showing them 😚.

About 11pm Sue and I walked the 5 minutes along the beach home. It was then end of a perfectly executed wedding with perfect people, perfect location and perfect everything. We both loved our Destination wedding photography Sardinia with Anna and Chris.

The next day we all met for breakfast, poolside for a catchup and Lunch. Its fait to say the conversation was slower than it had been and everything was less bubbly. But then we remembered the copious amounts of  limoncello and cocktails, beer and bubbly  and then suddenly it all became clear why haha.

Sue and I headed home after lunch and arrived back in our studio about 11:45pm Wow what a week. Anna and Chris you should be very proud of what you just did. You pulled its off 100%.
