Greek Orthodox Christening with Alexa and Joseph
It was our first Greek Orthodox Christening and we chose to start in style. Not one baby but 2 😃 Twins Alexa and Joseph were getting Christened total in Southampton. Our venues were home in Bassett, The Greek Orthodox Church and Georges Greek restaurant in Southampton.
Our start
We started our day a little under a mile away from the studio here in Bassett. Our brief today was a simple one, A few group shots and then reportage of the Greek Orthodox Christening itself. We arrived at the house and started with a few shots of the twins Alexa and Joseph and a few with family. It was a beautiful sunny day so we made the most of the gardens. To be honest neither Alexa or Joseph seemed in a very good mood so maybe they knew what was coming haha. A few more shots and we all headed through Southampton to the Greek Orthodox Church where our guests were waiting.
The Church
We have photographed a couple of Greek weddings at this church so know it reasonably well. We arrived and introduced ourselves and were told, loosely translated to “do whatever you want” 😇 That was fab. Although we both pride ourselves in getting the very best we can without interrupting the ceremony and nothing was going to change that.
The ceremony started and just like a Greek wedding the Greek Orthodox Christening was amazing, colourful and interesting. We grabbed shots as we went along and enjoyed it a lot. I have to be honest and compared to a regular christian christening is was bonkers. But that traditions for you and we absolutely loved being part of it.
The Restaurant
After the ceremony we headed to Georges on foot. It was literally less than half a mile up the road. Once there we were technically finished but we took some lovely shots of the guests as they were seated and a few more details. If you know any Greek people you will not be surprised to know that we were invited to stay and the food did look delicious but we had commitments so could not.
Amazing day and super interesting.
