Marwell hotel wedding photos with Ben and Joanne
Our latest wedding was with Ben and Jo for Marwell hotel wedding photos. Our story with Ben and Jo goes back a little further than normal and its one that I am excited to share with you all.
Ben and Joanne’s story, well our story really
Actually its the story of how we came to take Jo and Bens Marwell hotel wedding photos. I was born locally here in Southampton in Shirley Warren and there was always a strong family values there. This is probably why I ended up being so focused on family photography.
As kids we knew lots of other kids and families and once of my Mums friends was June Fisher. I used to hang out with her 2 girls Karen and Kim ❤️. After leaving Shirley Warren I had not seen either of them until a year or so ago Kim contacted me on faceb00k.
Kim asked me to meet up to discuss her Daughters wedding day. The rest as they say, is history. Its been absolutely amazing catching up with old faces and friends.
Beautiful wedding preparations at home
We started our day at home with Joanne in Lordshill for some preparations. The house was crazy with what seemed like 100 ladies running around including the lovely June. This was amazing and pretty much how the whole day stayed. Catching up with lovely people and taking photos. Not tough really ☺️
We started withy a few ring and shoe type photos then a few of the girls and Jo having makeup and the general buzz. After getting to know the girls, taking some amazing detail photos and of course catching up it was time to head off to Marwell to see the boys.
Marwell hotel wedding photos
By the time we arrived at Marwell the rain had set in as promised so a slight change of game plan today. We took Ben and Best man William out for a few photos before it got really bad and then met with the registrars to0 go over a few details.
Joanne arrived in a beautiful Rolls Royce driver by her Grandad and we grabbed a few arrival shots. At this point the registrars were worried about time so it literally was a quick step into meet them for Jo and not much time for photos. I hate this but its all part of the wedding day 😁
The Ceremony
As Joanne walked Into the ceremony the soul choir sang. This was quite emotional. Joanne looked absolutely stunning. Ben just looked shocked and excited. Honestly Jo looked amazing and hidden under a beautiful delicate veil was his soon top be wife.
The light for me was amazing and I managed to capture lots of beautiful moments as they said their I Do’s. Afterwards we photographed the signing and Ben and Jo stood to leave the room. At this point the soul choir burst into song again and after a couple of emotional songs Ben and Jo left the ceremony. The job was done ❣️
Out into the gazebo in the woods
Marwell has a strange setup in that after the Marwell hotel wedding photos you are directed out in to a courtyard area but it does have a gazebo covering. Strange not bad 😁 It was a god send yesterday with the weather and being right next to the wooded area its pretty perfect for woodland photos.
Yesterday I knew the rain would effect our plan so after a few hugs and kisses we grabbed Jo and Ben and walked over to the woods and under the shelter of an old oak tree. Here we did a few family shots. It worked our pretty perfect, great light and mostly dry. Well I was out in the rain but me and my cameras are waterproof haha. 🌨
Afterwards back into the gazebo and a few relaxed shots. Because the rain slows and alters things we decided to do our couple shots after dinner. This gave Jo and Ben a little more time to take everything in.
Time for dinner
Because of the amazing friends here Sue and I were seated for dinner too. Ironically on the :”Ocean Village” table which is where our son gets married next year. The food and company was amazing and as always I wandered around between courses to grab a few photos.
Time to chat, well listen 🎤
The speeches were emotive and fun. Starting with Father of the bride, wow that was emotional and I think everyone felt it. Then Bens and of course Williams to finish the speeches and official part of the day too. Afterwards we headed back into the bar and Sue and I took Jo and Ben for a few photos around the hotel.
Photo Booth fun
We then setup our Photo Booth for the evening. Today we chose a red backdrop and a range of hats and props. We did this for about 90 minutes and it was super popular with the kids and most of the adults too.
After the booth we photographed the amazing cake cutting. Then straight into dancing. The first dance was actually a recording of Bens cousins singing, She was amazing and has a beautiful voice. Shame the DJ never made more of this but I managed to grab her for a photo with Jo and Ben after the dance. She appreciated that I think.
Well that just about summed up an amazing day. Sue and I left after the dancing. Such a top day spent with just the best people. Seeing Kim and Karen and June again and dozens of other school friends just made my day. This proves everything I always say about weddings. Its nothing to do with Venues, weather, locations, its all about PEOPLE and these are the best people.
Definitely a highlight of my year.
