A dairy, A deconsecrated church and a tent

A wedding, A walk and a wonderful thing to experience

Hatherden wedding photography. Ok I need to elaborate on that so let me start the wonderful story of Andy and Sarah, A couple who met online, fell in love and treated its all to an absolutely awesome wedding day.

Last year whilst cooking dinner I received a call from MOB (to be) Angela.  After checking availability she went on to explain that we had been highly recommended by Katie and Charlie who’s wedding we photographed back in 2014. Angela told me about this magical wedding in a beautiful old deconsecrated church with no power. A 1.5 mile walk across the fields to a marquee at the top of a hill. God knows why I was excited haha. Only kidding of course we were excited. 😂

Katie and Charlies day

Hatherden wedding photography at the Old Dairy

We stared our day with Sarah, her amazing “slightly crazy” friends and Mum at the Old Dairy Hatherden which started our Hatherden wedding photography. This was just the best place to do our pre wedding preparations and we had a lot of fun. Lots of beautiful details and lots of photos of the girls getting ready and drinking bubbles. Sue and I were spoilt for choice, each room was just filled with amazing ideas for us. After our time at the Old Dairy we headed off to the beautiful old church at Fosbury

The beautiful deconsecrated church Fosbury

This beautiful church was deconsecrated some years back but as it neighbours Andy’s families farm it was very important to them. So much so that they had it re-consecrated especially for their wedding day. The church is now owned by a local landowner. Who amazingly has restored the roof for no reason other than to preserve this amazing church. We had no power or lights in the church apart from candle light. But we shoot with amazing Nikon D5 cameras so that does not phase us. 😆

After a few arrival shots we walked into the church to a waiting crowd. Led by the pageboy and flower girl the wedding had started. A beautiful service silenced somehow by there lack of power. But just as the vicar said the “any objections blurb” the most amazing thing happened. The red arrows flew over, low fast and VERY loud. This of course made for rapturous laughter. The rest of the ceremony was quiet and beautiful.

Now for the walk

The plan right from that first phone call over dinner was to walk from the church to Andy’s farm for the reception. This was about 10 miles, O wait it felt like 10 miles haha, it was actually a lovely 1.5 miles through beautiful farmland. 100 or so ff us set off and we grabbed a few photos as we went. half way we happened across a water trough full go “Coors light” on ice. Stopping for a beer, a few hugs and kisses and some amazing photos before venturing on up yet another hill 😄

Photos overlooking our destination

We stopped for a few photos overlooking the beautiful marquee. By this time it looked like our weather “luck” was running out. The clouds were looking thick and grey, Not complaining of course coz it made for awesome photos.

Once at the venue Sue and I grabbed a few details shots and then cracked on with the family groups whilst keeping a mindful eye on the weather. Once done we wandered around grabbing moments before being called into dinner.

Dinner of VERY local lamb 🙂 and spectacular chocolate brownie later we started the speeches. 3 funny and quite emotional speeches, well apart from Andy’s which was just so bloody funny 🤣

By now the weather gods had won and it was lashing down. But things had chilled out and everyone was happy. we had an hour or so before dancing so Sue and I wandered around grabbing a few groups. The wether started to brighten as it got dark, well when I say brighten, the rain had stopped.  We grabbed Andy and Sara for a few shots outside the marquee which was just amazing, The sky was perfect and with a combination of the D5, a video light and SB5000 we managed some amazing photos.

Afterwards its was time to dance. Almost 12 hours after our first shutter click we pushed our last for the day. Our time with Sarah and Andy had come to an end, for now ❤️

Thanks guys. It was everything you promised and so much more.
