Our day at Chris and Katie’s wedding starting with Romsey Abbey wedding photos then Bartley Lodge Hotel wedding photos by Romsey Abbey wedding photographers and Bartley Lodge Hotel wedding photographers Julian Porter Photography.
Our wedding day with Chris and Katie
This wedding day was with the lovely Chris and Katie who chose 2 amazing venues for us. Romsey Abbey wedding photos first and then afterwards one of our favourite New Forest hotels the Bartley Lodge Hotel wedding photos. An exciting day we were both very much looking forward too.
Preparations at home
Despite the lovely weather of late todays weather was a little breezy so could be challenging given our venues but to start with the preps. We started our day with Katie and the girls and Mum’s house in LocksHeath. An hour or so’s preps and details of which there were plenty. Nice dress, shoes, accessories and the nicest engagement ring I have ever seen.
These all made for beautiful photographs. After a lovely morning with the girls. We finished our prep with Katie stepping into her beautiful dress surrounded by the lovely bridesmaids. Including Mel who we met when we photographed here newborn daughter Ivy-Rose and who kindly recommended us for the wedding. It was time to head off to see the boys.

We then drove the 20 minutes or so to the beautiful Romsey Abbey. The wonderful people there sorted our parking out in the vicarage so it was a quick park then off to see our very nervous groom Chris. By the time we had sorted button holes and bits with the boys it was 1pm.
The ceremony was 1:30 and Chris announced he was “off for a quick beer” Like ya style mate. Haha a quick Jack and Coke and a few photos and we were heading back to the abbey. We got some great photos of the boys and family around the Abbey in this quite special time.
Shortly after Katie arrived smiling continually as the Rolls Royce passed me. Todays awesome bride was seriously NOT going to miss a photo op and I was very happy about that.
The choir led the procession down the isle and Katie and her Dad followed looking amazing. If you live locally this IS the place to get married. Chris was literally so nervous he was shaking but honestly it all made for the most amazingly charged ceremony and it was a joy to be a part of.
Lots of emotion that only an Abbey like this can bring and it was almost time to head out for Romsey Abbey wedding photos. The next part was unexpected. Katie literally RAN down the isle clutching her new husband which proper made me LOL and out into the south gardens for photos. Because we are regular Romsey Abbey wedding photographers we had previously found a nice secluded area. No wind so hugs, kisses, family groups and confetti aplenty before we all headed back to the New Forest and the Bartley Lodge Hotel wedding photos.
Bartley Lodge wedding photos with Bartley Lodge Hotel wedding photographers
We arrived at Bartley Lodge and quickly got to work in the gardens. Because we had already done most of our planned photos at Romsey Abbey. For our Bartley Lodge wedding photos we chose the portraits for Chris and Katie and that worked very well indeed. It was a little breezy here and I was so happy we did the families at the Abbey.
Sue and I are proud to be Bartley Lodge Hotel wedding photographers and its become one of our favourite venues. One of the things we love is just how flexible the staff can be here. Today was no exception they took the breezy weather into account and moved things forward a little.
We were called into Dinner and straight into speeches.3 great speeches and then an amazing wedding breakfast as always. Whilst this was going on we setup our fun time wedding booth for later. I knew it would be popular because despite the time of year it had gotten a bit chilly outside. Thios meant people would say in close to the bar.
After coffee the guest filtered through (get that little joke, coffee, filtered haha) and we started our fun pictures. As predicted it was the best funtime for a while because the bride was just plain crazy for it and lots of people wanting to play. We took loads and kept going up until the venue needed the space for the buffet.
Time to cut the cake and first dance drawing to a close what had been another perfect wedding, made more so because of amazing people.
